With No Excuses

This afternoon, Rebecca came over to my house to wish my parents Happy Chinese New Year. As most places are still closed, I cooked instant mee with luncheon meat, dumpling & my favourite egg omelette for our brunch. She loved my egg omelette & I think it tastes nice too!

We watched Rocky III with my parents & Rebecca commented that it was a good & exciting show. Yeh! She liked the training part & the part where Rocky's wife Adrian tried to shake up Rocky out of his moodyness from having lost the recent fight with Clubber Lang. On top of that, Rocky had to deal with the sudden death of his long-time trainer Mickey Goldmill too.

Personally, those were the two parts of the show which I liked best too! Even though I have watched this show before, it still inspired me from the way Adrian tried to knock sense into Rocky, as they argued with each other at the beach. Since the first time I watched this show (that was in my secondary school days, I think), I have always liked & hoped for such a woman as my wife... someone who is gentle & feminine, yet having the strength & wisdom inside to correct me when I'm wrong or help me out of bad times. Adrian is one such example in this show.

I clearly remembered this part of the conversation when Rocky finally sobered down & asked, "And if I lose?" Then Adrian replied, "If you lost... at least you lose with no excuses... no fear... & I know you can live with that." Wow... her words & manner of reply always speaks to me, whenever I watch this show. And I think this is true in whatever we try to do our best at in life. Sometimes we do well, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we are afraid to try. But if we try hard & don't succeed, at least we know that we have done our best & have no regrets & excuses left to brood about.
