Personalities from Smallville
This morning, I passed by VideoEzy (while walking out to buy chicken rice for my lunch) & borrowed the 4th season of ‘Smallville’ to watch at home. Even after following this series till its 4th season (approximately 20+ episodes for each season), I still enjoy watching this show.
I find that the ‘Smallville’ conversational script creates a certain kind of ‘mood’ or ‘intensity’ from its verbal & especially its non-verbal mannerisms, as portrayed by its actors & actresses throughout its 4 entire season episodes. Or maybe I’m just sharp enough to notice that.
I personally find it very fascinating how the actors & actresses speak their lines & emphasize their thoughts through very subtle body language & facial expressions. In fact, I must say that I learnt quite a lot of my reading of body language from watching ‘Smallville’.
Perhaps I find that Americans speak better & clearer body language than Asians, maybe coz Asians tend to be less expressive & more cautious during conversations. Oh well, at least this is my observation from watching this show so far...
Of the many characters in this show, there are two personalities that never fail to impress on my heart. Firstly, it is the personality of Lex Luthor, acted by Michael Rosenbaum & the personality of Lana Lang, acted by Kristin Kreuk.
I really find the body language & verbal language of Lex Luthor very intriguing. He’s a person who juggles between the good & the bad side within him, all through his life, due to the unfortunately bad influence & upbringing by his father, Lionel Luthor.
I’m attracted to Lex’s personality because I see that in me & probably every one of us human beings, who regularly struggle between the good & the bad that’s at war within our human minds. At times, we strive to do & be good; yet there are also times when our fallen nature lurks behind, coaxing us to do what isn’t right.
And this is what I really admire about Lex’s personality, because he is one who is constantly aware of his constant battles raging within him, yet not once afraid to admit & face his struggles inside. Though cunning as he is, due to the influence of his father, his words are not without much depth at times.
The other personality that fascinates & thrills me is the personality of Lana Lang. Since the first season episode of ‘Smallville’, I have always been attracted to the character of Lana Lang, not merely because the real actress is Kristin Kreuk who is beautiful (after all Hollywood celebrities are normally outwardly attractive & with their bit of charisma), but the actual fact is that I’m just fascinated by her sensitive & feminine personality. And her body language & facial expressions just bowl me over at times!
Honestly, this is definitely one characteristic which I would look for in a girlfriend & especially so for a wife –
(1) A woman who is sensitive (not oversensitive) when it comes to sharing about herself, as well as when hearing out what someone else is sharing with her.
(2) A woman who speaks not just with words, but with her body as well; be it speaking with her eyes, her cheeks, the tilt of her head, the smile on her face, the empathetic gaze in her eyes, etc. In short, to communicate deeply with me through the portrayal & clarity of sensitive facial expressions & body language when engaging in personal quality time together.
