Buying of UK Land

About 1 month ago, Rebecca and I were walking around Bugis Junction when we came across this standing display that asks viewers if they would like to buy UK land. It also states that the value has risen by 1703% over the past 23 years.

When we first saw it, I found it very funny because why would people want to buy UK land? I mean, there are some big-time investors who would like to invest in purchase of land, but how many in Singapore would like to buy an empty plot of land and wait for developers to build something on their land before the land value increases?

I mean, come on... who is their target market? Why put this display next to the Eng Wah cinema queue area? These people who patronise this place are possibly the wrong crowd! Besides, UK is too far away... so am I supposed to fly there every once in awhile to see if some developer would like to build something on my land? Why not I buy part of the Southernmost Point of Asia at Sentosa? Weird...
