Secret to drinking enough water
Last week I planned a simple table chart to mark down how many cups of water that I drink each day... & today is the start of my daily monitoring of water intake. I find that this is one way to develop a good habit of drinking sufficient water to hydrate my body.
And the secret that I discovered (that works for me, at least), is to drink the full cup of water right then & there. When I was previously working at StarHub, I used to bring my cup over to my desk & drank while I worked. What happens is that I would get carried away with my work & end up only drinking that cup or maybe at most one more cup, by the end of the day. One cup in the morning & one more cup in the afternoon.
The problem is - two cups of water just isn't enough to ensure proper functioning of our bodies each day. Sure, our bodies still work as per normal, but we end up feeling tired easily, getting headaches from the heat, lips get dry & sometimes cracked, mouth ulcers develop coz we eat more heaty food than drink sufficient water & some of us even get dry skin, which we think that applying artificial moisturiser alone is enough.
Believe me, the lack of sufficient water in our bodies do influence the probability of us catching a passing illness & falling sick.
Thus, I figured that the best to start making this a good habit is to start by monitoring how many cups of water that I drink each day. Not that I would monitor this for my entire life, but it is a good way to start building this good & healthy habit. =)
